Greek utility company Gastrade on Wednesday said it has signed an agreement with Bulgarian Energy Holding to participate in the proposed FLNG import terminal project in Alexandroupolis.<\/p>\n
According to a terms of reference signed by the two companies, Gastrade and BEH will create a joint working team to study and propose to the council of ministers of the government of Bulgaria the most suitable way of implementing the government\u2019s decision to participate in the project.<\/p>\n
The team will jointly work on a proposal before submitting it to the government of Bulgaria for review.<\/p>\n
According to the Gastrade website, the floating LNG unit to be moored close to 18 kilometers off the port of Alexandroupolis and will be connected via a subsea pipeline to the metering station near the village of Amfitriti.<\/p>\n
Gastrade said that the FLNG unit will have a storage capacity of 170,000 cubic meters with four regasification units, each with a 400 cubic meters of LNG per hour regasification capacity.<\/p>\n
The project would secure gas supply for the Greek and South East European natural gas markets.<\/p>\n
In Decemeber last year, Houston-based Cheniere Energy met with Greek government officials, voicing its interest to join the consortium to build and invest in the floating LNG import terminal<\/p>\n
Commercial operations of the terminal are expected to commence in 2018, Gastrade said.<\/p>\n
