16 July, 2025

Announcement

Τhis morning, Wednesday, July 6, 2025, at 05:40, members of the Greek branch of Greenpeace approached the Alexandroupolis LNG Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), owned and operated by Gastrade.

Acting with a strong sense of responsibility, the Company immediately activated all necessary safety protocols, aiming primarily to ensure the safety of both the Greenpeace members and the FSRU personnel, while also safeguarding the facility from any potential risk or damage.

The crew of the FSRU, thoroughly trained and well-prepared, responded to the incident swiftly and effectively. The Greenpeace members did not enter the facility; they displayed a banner, took photographs and then left the area without further activity.

Throughout the incident, the Company’s guardian tugboat and two patrol vessels of the Hellenic Coast Guard were on standby at the site, ensuring supervision and full control of the situation. The incident was concluded without any issue at 07:35.

We would like to reiterate Gastrade’s ongoing commitment to the safe and responsible operation of critical energy infrastructure.

The Project operates in full compliance with approved environmental terms, implements Best Available Techniques (BAT), and has achieved significant reductions in gas emissions compared to the respective permitted limits, thereby actively contributing to the energy transition. Additionally, independent studies conducted by the internationally recognized Norwegian classification society DNV confirm the absence of impact on the marine environment.

The intensive and systematic environmental monitoring program implemented by our Company across the broader Thracian Sea region represents a pioneering practice within the Greek territory.
