The Alexandroupolis INGS has been selected by the European Commission as a European Project of Common Interest for Natural Gas

On October 14th, 2013 the Alexandroupolis INGS project was included in the list of the 52 European Projects of Common Interest (PCI) for Natural Gas. The inclusion of a project in the PCI list recognizes and stresses the need for its implementation since such a project:
- is considered to be a project of national importance and priority,
- ensures the security of energy supply in its host and its neighbouring countries and
- promotes the diversification of the sources and routes of energy supply
